What makes the result dependable.
The most important inputs are the recorded local birth time and the timezone that applied at the birthplace on that date.

Historical timezone rules matter because daylight-saving offsets can change across years. The result also flags births close to a Nakshatra or pada boundary, where the most exact recorded time is especially important.

Why exact birth time matters
The Moon usually remains in one Nakshatra for roughly a day, but a birth near a boundary can move into the neighboring Nakshatra when the recorded time changes. Pada is more time-sensitive because each quarter is smaller. The result above flags proximity to a boundary instead of hiding that uncertainty.

What is a Nakshatra pada?
Each Nakshatra contains four padas. Every pada spans 3 degrees 20 minutes and adds a more specific positional layer to the broader birth star.
Is Nakshatra the same as Moon sign?
No. A Moon sign spans 30 degrees, while a Nakshatra spans 13 degrees 20 minutes and can cross a sign boundary.
Can I calculate Nakshatra without birth time?
A date-only estimate may work when the Moon stays far from a boundary throughout that day, but it cannot safely resolve every birth. Pada and boundary cases benefit from the most exact time available.
Why does another calculator show a different result?
Different sidereal references, timezones, historical daylight-saving rules or rounding can create disagreement, especially near a boundary. Ovati uses one consistent reference across its tools.
